Tour A Newly Built Home With An Unexpected Problem
A kitchen that's too big? It's not a common complaint but that's one thing that Lisa Worth, principal designer of Worth interior Design, grappled with in this newly built home in King City for a young family. Large pendants balance the scale of the 11-foot island while a floor-to-ceiling wine cabinet and coffee bar are accommodated in the adjacent dining room. A double-height ceiling in the family room still feels intimate with comfortable furniture and built-in display. Lisa lavishes the home with design details like the oak door jambs, antiqued mirrored backsplashes and the eye-catching hood vent outlined in black metal. Watch the full tour here!

Designer Shaunn Lipsey Gives A Newly Built Home An Upscale, Current Look
A brand new mid-town Toronto home is reimagined for a young couple hoping to grow their family. There are many hip touches, courtesy of designer Shaunn Lipsey, who says the couple’s design brief was “warm and upscale, but not fancy.” Walls are coated in microcement for subtle texture with hits of soft sage green to break up the neutral palette. A dramatically dark, arched bar grabs the spotlight in the dining room. The kitchen’s oak cabinets were shaved down to downplay the grain and keep the focus on the heavily veined marble island and backsplash. -

How To Design A Home That Will Grow With Your Family
Learn how to create a space that the whole family can enjoy with designer Catherine Lucie-Horber's expert tips. See how she designed a fun and inviting family home that's still elegant and adult-approved. The home had great architectural details to begin with, like waffle ceilings, hardwood floors and an open-concept floor plan. When furnishing the space, Catherine Lucie-Horberchose versatile, timeless and durable pieces that are meant to grow with the family. Starting with the daughter's room, where Frozen is the decor theme, the designerused pretty snowflake wallpaper, a shag rug that looks like snow and a custom upholstered headboard with crystals. The boy's room accommodates both a newborn and an elder child, featuring muted colours, built-in cabinetry for storage and a bunk bed for when the crib is no longer in use. The main floor is comfortable while still being elegant. A white leather sofa can easily be cleaned, and a double ottoman with soft edges transforms into a trampoline.
